The first set arrived broken. I called and they promptly and happily sent a replacement.
I repotted my violet about 2 months ago. I kept it in a plastic bag for a week. It looked very happy when I removed the bag. Almost instantly, I got gnats. I removed the outer water bowl for a few days and the gnats went away. Then I added water again but reduced the amount, barely allowing it to touch the planter pot. However, unless I checked daily, the plant dried out. About a week ago, I decided to increase the level of water, so I didn't have to check it daily. The plant is looking better and so far, no gnats.
4" is a large pot for an African violet (that likes to be cozy in its home). Also, it allowed for a lot of surface area that likely contributed to the gnat problem. I thought 4" would be ok for my old plant that had outgrown its 3" pot. But it was a big step.
The pot is quite pretty. I think it is going to work for me. But it took some trial and error. I'm not a violet expert, but have been growing them for about 20 years, so not a novice, either.

Ordered this for my african violets and it works great. Planted a purple flowered violet in this green pot, which really sets it off beautifully. The constant source of water from the lower pot keeps the plant evenly moist, but have not tried letting it go three weeks yet, so don't know how that will work. Also bought the purple and green pot and put a magenta with white edges in it and WOW...really looks good. The pot was really well protected in shipping, not one chip anywhere. I really think this is a good price because I've seen them well over $30.00 and would not purchase at that price.
