I love my Japanese bowls. The asian flower patterns are exactly as advertised. These bowls are deep but not too big at all, microwave safe, dishwasher safe, and just gorgeous.

These are exactly the type of traditional bowls my grandmother would use when I used to live with her. The finish and the detail on the bowls are impeccable, beautifully decorated with flower print designs, and they hold a perfect amount of steaming white rice. I love how each bowl has a unique print but contains the same style and colors as the other ones. They make a good gift too. The bowls are packaged within a durable black gift box that has gold japanese writing over the top. Perhaps $30 is a little pricey if you live in an area where Chinese/Japanese pottery is widely available, since this would probably cost about $20-25 in Asian markets. But if you're somewhere in the boondocks then this is well worth the money! Heck, even I live in an area highly populated by asian markets and I STILL opted to buy it on Amazon!

The bowls were smaller than I had expected. They could not be used for soup, noodle or rice dishes. They seem more ornamental than pragmatic - which is what I intended them to be.
My main issue is the condition they were in. 2 bowls cracked and one shattered.
A very disappointing experience indeed!
